Game Design and Programming - Feb/April School Vacation
Does your child love playing games and want to create their own? This fun and focused week would be ideal for your child. The class starts with understanding what digital games and programming are. Then the kids get to learn programming basic concepts such as sequence, events, loops, and conditional logic. They will learn and practice in various digital games and puzzles. Once they’re comfortable of block programming, they will get to design and program their own games. The kids will team up to develop storyline, characters, settings and various interactions. At the end of the week, kids will demonstrate the games they created and test play each others’ games. A winner will be voted by the class to win a special award.
We will tailor the class by each child’s previous experience and progress. For kids with zero programming experience, this week’s class is equivalent to Learn to Program Level 1 and Level 2. For kids that have done Level 1 or 2 in our After School Enrichment Program, they will be learning Level 3 and Level 4.
Kids will also have offline/off-screen activities and games to have balanced days. Some of the example activities are as following:
- Arts and Crafts
- In door games (Foosball, air hockey, Ping pong, etc.)
- Out door games (water balloon toss, ice cube relay, etc.)
- Connect with Nature
- Science experiments (biology and chemistry)
- Full Day - 9:00 ~ 3:00 pm
Weeks - School Vacations 2021:
- 2/15 ~ 2/19
- 4/19 ~ 4/23
After you sign up for the class, the website will ask you to fill out a Student Emergency Contact and Waiver form. Please make sure you complete it unless you have already completed one with us in the last 12 months. For your child's safety, the form is required to be on file before the student can join the classes. If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Online classes - all class links will be sent to the students before the session starts.
